As the first step in the admissions process we would invite families and referring authorities to visit Barton School, view the facilities and talk to staff and students.
On receiving a request for a placement we assess the child’s or young person’s education, care and therapy needs over a time period defined with the referrer.
In addition, senior members of the care, education and therapy staff teams will separately and together meet with parents and carers, schools and other significant agencies to gather information on the child or young person and complete a comprehensive Initial Assessment.
This assessment informs our preparations for the new student's arrival.
