Set in 28 acres of rolling Shropshire countryside, Higford provides a safe, homely environment for children and young people with ASD. We have three living areas in total, with two accommodating up to six students each and one accommodating up to eight students. The living areas consist of a shared lounge, kitchen and dining room, which help to promote the values and skills of communal living. All students have their own en-suite bedrooms which have been designed to be ASD specific and adapted to meet complex behavioural needs. Students are supported to personalise their bedrooms to create a homely environment in which they can feel safe. Activities that take place on site are part of the waking day curriculum and linked to the students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that are followed throughout the school day. Our extensive grounds and innovative facilities provide children and young people with opportunities to safely exercise choice and control.
