As part of the thorough care provision offered at Watermill House, residents have access to psychological and psychiatric therapists and community nurses. GPs, dentists and opticians also visit the site if the residents are unable to access them in the community. Watermill House also offers a wide range of therapies including speech and language and occupational therapy and psychological support. All staff are trained in Skills for Care Learning Disability Qualifications and complete a mandatory accredited learning disability and autism specific training course. Each member of staff is required to complete NVQ level 2 or above and receives comprehensive training in specialist health needs such as epilepsy. Nominated staff members receive accredited training for the administration of medication whilst all staff are required to pass PRICE and LDQ foundation standards. Watermill House is committed to person-centred planning in line with the Government’s Autism Strategy and the personalisation agenda. Every resident has an active role in developing their individualised programmes of care and personal development, ensuring that their needs are met 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and that their individual choices are respected. |
