Transition

AALPS College North's primary goal from day one is to help young people with ASD and associated learning and communication difficulties maximise their potential for independent living.

The initial target is a return to the home community, with the appropriate levels of support.

It is recognised, however, that this process may have several building blocks towards achievement and these will be both supported and discussed with the young adults themselves, their family and the referral agency.

AALPS College can also provide medium term accommodation for young adults who, due to the complexity of their needs, require a slightly longer period of support and positive reinforcement to enable them to engage fully in society.

Wider Options offers lifelong support programmes for adults with autism and/ or a range of special needs who need support to achieve their potential for independence.

Wider Options continues to develop units in different areas with the vision that each adult can return to their home community.
