New Options Autism School at Barton Upon Humber, North Lincolnshire, consists of an integrated Autism School and Children’s Home which follows an autism-specific, holistic approach where young people with autism are given opportunities to maximise their potential, enabling them to develop skills to live as independently as possible.

New Options (Barton) Autism School is a newly built, purpose designed facility incorporating a range of innovative concepts and approaches that enable young people with autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs) to make sense of the world around them. This is facilitated through access to a creative and flexible curriculum and an individual approach to care.  The use of visual strategies to support communication is strongly emphasised. The specialist team at New Options (Barton) Autism School has developed a unique visual support system incorporating high tech, innovative resources. All staff at the New Options (Barton) Autism School strive to engender an atmosphere of trust and high expectation.

The school provides;

• 52 week residential provision for 26 children/young people with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder

• School provision for 4 day pupils/students with Autism

• Short Break Services

• Self-contained flats to aide transition into adult placements.
