Short Break Service for 8-18 year olds.

Individually assessed, planned stays of between a few hours and two weeks, including weekday and weekend stays.

The Short Break Service will be provided in a designated unit within the school. The service does not include education, but support will be provided either to

Assist local authorities to maintain attendance at the child’s normal school or college where feasible.

Support them to complete homework or assignments.

Continue with any other daytime activities, wherever feasible

Each young person will have an individual programme for their stay that fits in with their usual care and support plan.

Programmes of short break support can be planned up to a year ahead.

The aim is to make every visit like staying with a friend of the family.

New Options will work in partnership with families and placing authorities to get the best out of the short break service.

Access to the extensive range of leisure and recreational facilities on site.

‘Hotel’ quality communal areas and landscaped grounds.

A fully qualified nurse on the premises 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Provision for special diets, facilities for visiting professionals & family lounge.

A team fully trained in the unique Options approach to young people with Autism but flexible enough to care for those with other complex needs.

Referrals are accepted from Local Authorities as well as direct from parents.

We offer a value for money service—£18.50 per hour for just a few hours or up to two weeks. An additional charge of £10 will be charged to cover pre and post administrative costs.

Families may pay direct or contact their social worker for advice on financial support in their area.
