Facilities
The facilities at the New Options (Higford) School are used to develop social and life skills for children with autism and/or complex sensory and communication needs in a safe, controlled environment which can then be transferred and developed in the wider community.
The Indoor Play Area and All Weather Games Pitch will be used to teach PE and for after school clubs, as well as providing an area for a variety of out of school leisure and sporting activities.
As well as an additional resource for teaching PE, the large Recreational Field is a valuable space for the school’s young people to take part in more vigorous activities.
An interactive Water Play Area and a Sensory Room allow for the development of sensory based activities.

The (Reading Room) Library provides the opportunity for children to appreciate a range of Multi-media resources.
The Music Rooms will provide facilities for the students to express and develop their musical talent.
The Visitors Accommodation comprises a self contained apartment, enabling families to receive their children.

Our future plans include building an Outdoor Adventure Playground which will be used as part of a wider programme of adventurous activities aimed at developing self confidence, positive risk taking and broadening life experiences.
