Integrated management between the New Options (Kinsale) school and Children’s Home ensures continuity of approach to meet the individual needs of the children.
The accommodation is divided into 5 flats that are spacious and individually designed, housing between 3 and 6 children. Some of the bedrooms are en-suite whilst the others share a bathroom. Each of the flats has a kitchen/dining area as well as lounge room. The flats will develop their own identity as the children and young people will have a large say in the developing style.
The residential area includes several innovative design features aimed at enabling children to make sense of the world around them. For example, mood lighting and piped music help students understand the time of day and therefore comprehend what they should be doing.
New Options (Kinsale) School also offers more independent accommodation within its attractive grounds. There is a 2 bedded flat for young people making the transition to more independent living and 5 independent living cottages.
