Wider Options respite services are designed to work in partnership with service users and their main carers to help sustain and build upon the aims of their care and support plan.
We refer to service users as our guests – a term that reflects our commitment to their wellbeing and to treating each person as an individual.
Each period of planned respite care, support and activity provides benefits to the guest with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/ or Learning Difficulties and their main carers, enhancing the lifestyles of all concerned.
The Respite service provides each person with a positive, safe and productive stay. It facilitates access to community services and amenities, including health, leisure, employment, social activities and College.
Wider Options Respite Service for Adults with Autism and/ or Learning difficulties can provide;

Flexible staffing arrangements, from a skilled and experienced team.

High quality, homely accommodation.

Alternatively, individuals can be looked after in their own home, if required.

Lengths of stay to suit individual needs.

Each individual benefits from a comprehensive assessment.

Emergency stays available at times of personal or family crisis.

High, professional standards of care and support.

Collaborative partnerships maintained with all agencies involved with the individual.

Where appropriate, existing programmes of daytime activities are maintained during a respite stay.

Alternatively, a programme of individual activities can be organised, to ensure that each individual has an enjoyable, relaxed and eventful stay.

The aim is for the individual to look forward to using the service so that everyone has a relaxing break.
Wider Options Dedicated Respite Support Services are available for advance booking throughout the year. Priority is based on assessed need, using a system agreed with the referring authority.
Wider Options are pleased to invite potential guests, their parents/carers and social workers to visit the facilities and meet the staff team. The facilities provide a high quality environment for guests.
Quality Standards

A set of objectives is planned for the period of the stay which indicates active day time arrangements.

Each individual is assisted to keep a diary of their stay, as a record of their activities to take home.

All personal monies are kept in accordance with Wider Options Standards.

All prescribed medication is recorded and administered in accordance with Wider Options Policy on the Administration of Medicines.

Personal files and records are kept in accordance with Wider Options Policy on Record Keeping.

Wider Options Respite services complement and enhance the objectives of the individual’s overall care plan.
