Specialist Approaches & Resources
Our collective experience of providing specialist services for people with BESD has enabled us to develop a variety of approaches which promote positive outcomes. These include:
- person-centred planning, ensuring that the services we provide reflect the individual needs and wishes of the people we support
- using clinical services and therapies to facilitate learning, whereby our education and care staff teams work in partnership with therapists and clinical professionals to identify the optimum conditions and approaches for learning
- supported lodgings, an accommodation scheme which helps young people develop the skills they need to move on to living independently
- Focusing on the Pathway, ensures that the care and support that we provide is pro-active and outcomes-focussed
We also have access to specialist resources that help us to deliver outcomes-focussed, comprehensive and consistent care and support at all times. These include:
- multi-disciplinary teams comprising clinical and therapy specialists, teachers and care staff, who work in partnership with social workers and parents/carers
- specialist facilities to encourage the development of interests and skills in subjects such as science, art, design and technology, food technology, music and ICT
- local resource centres where people can seek advice and get access to a range of community resources.
