Specialist Approaches & Resources
Our collective experience of providing specialist services for children and young people with BESD has enabled us to develop a variety of approaches which promote positive outcomes. These include:
- Person-centred planning, ensuring that the services we provide reflect individual needs and wishes
- Using Professional and Clinical Services to facilitate learning, whereby our education and care staff teams work in partnership with professionals and clinicians to identify the optimum conditions and approaches for learning
- “First Steps”, an programme which enables young people develop the skills they need to move on to living independently
- Focusing on the Pathway, ensures that the care and support that we provide is pro-active and outcomes-focused
We also have access to specialist resources that help us to deliver outcomes-focused, comprehensive and consistent care and support at all times. These include:
- Multi-disciplinary teams comprising professional and clinical specialists, teachers and care staff, who work in partnership with social workers and parents/carers
- Specialist facilities to encourage the development of interests and skills in subjects such as science, art, design and technology, food technology, music and ICT
