We adhere to an ‘enquiry/referrals protocol’ to ensure that all referrals, planned or emergency, are processed quickly and efficiently.
When an enquiry/referral is made, the staff member who receives it completes the essential parts of a referral form; the referrer is then called by the Head of Service within 24 hours to discuss the nature of the referral in more detail.
The Head of Service then makes a joint decision, with the referrer, as to whether the referral is a planned or emergency placement and how best to proceed.
A comprehensive assessment of need is undertaken by members of the care, education and clinical staff teams before any planned placement offers are made.
