Autism Training

Options Institute Training Centre provides staff who work within services which support individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, the qualifications they need to perform their role to the highest standard.

Accredited by City & Guilds, the Institute of Leadership and Management and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Options Institute Training Centre is registered to offer a variety of qualifications. These include NVQ’s in Health and Social Care, Management and Learning and Development, as well as Learning Disability Qualifications and a variety of Health and Safety Qualifications.

Candidates are supported by a highly qualified team of staff who strive to develop the candidate’s skills, knowledge and understanding of their role and client group across the service.

“Achieving an N.V.Q is the icing on the cake…you get a qualification for something you enjoy doing”

“It makes you better at your job, you realise what you can do and it gives you more confidence”

Looked After Children (EBSD) Training

The complex support needs of young people within Young Options are reflected by the quality and accessibility of the training their staff receive. From the moment a new staff member enters Young Options’ employment they know they are entering into a new era of professional development. We insist on a comprehensive four week induction programme which enables staff to fully appreciate the demands of their roles, the expectations we have of them and our promises to help them and young people succeed. We work hard to meet Ofsted requirements and exceed those of the Children’s Workforce Development Council.

Our annual training programme includes topics reflecting the requirements of the National Minimum Standards, building into a broad portfolio of events aimed at developing key skills, knowledge breadth and work based performance. We support staff to achieve accredited qualifications such as NVQs from Level 3 through to Level 5, in social care, management and more specialist areas such as Safeguarding and Drug Awareness. We have had huge success in this area with two homes reaching 100% staff qualified in NVQ3 Caring for Children & Young People, and 4 others exceeding the 80% requirement. Our most recent inclusion to adult learning has been join training with ACAS on issues relating to work practices, which has proven to be a real benefit to staff responsible for the performance and assessment of others.

Integral to our learning approach is our openness to promote the skills of our own teams; we have highly skilled professionals who have demonstrated their abilities to their peers and colleagues via their input to our training packages. Our aim is to develop the most skilled, responsible and motivated staff team so in turn we affect the lives of young people in the right direction.

We have shared learning events which enable young people and adults to gain qualifications together, and the feedback we had from one young person was fantastic,

“It was a good course because I felt like I knew more than I thought, and I did the exam and came top!” JM

At Young Options our ethos is to support success for everyone, our motivation provides the drive and our training provides the tools to make success a reality.
