Care
Young Options operates a network of registered children’s homes within the Shropshire & Staffordshire areas. They are divided into three distinct services ranging from high intensity support services through to preparation for leaving care.
Our high quality children’s homes offer a homely environment in which young people can feel nurtured and secure. We are able to provide separate accommodation for boys and girls and specialist homes for young people who present with complex psychological and psychiatric behaviours.
One of our services is designed to meet the unique needs of young people experiencing a traumatic period in their life as an alternative to secure accommodation. It provides young people with a transitional programme that enables these young people to adjust to the demands and pressures of living in the community.
Staffing
Each home has its own registered children’s home manager, who is supported in ensuring the care, health and safety of each young person by a team of therapeutic support workers. Staff are highly trained and specialised in meeting the needs of young people with complex and challenging behaviours. Every registered children’s home has an individual consultant attached to them from the Young Options institute who offer professional and clinical support to the individual teams.
Facilities
Each Young Options home is different – offering unique, homely and safe place in which young people can grow and develop. Finished and maintained to an exceptionally high standard, the homes are well secured, and offer as normal an experience of real life as possible to the young people in our care. All our registered children’s homes have received a “good” status under our recent Ofsted inspections.
Young Options Pathway
The Young Options pathway provides appropriate levels of high quality care, therapeutic support and specialist education to meet the needs of the young person. The pathway offers continuity of approach from the most intensive support to plan the fostering and leaving care programmes that prepare individuals fur successful independent living or a return home. Progress in the pathway is planned fee reduction for Local Authorties.
The whole team of Young Options staff adopt a “whole child” approach. Based on nurturing principles, it is aimed at developing a true understanding of the individuals experience and emotional needs. This approach helps create the right balance of trust, support and challenge, enabling a young person to engage confidently and securely.
Care reviews and education reviews are synchronised to ensure that the whole child approach is consistently applied.
Staff at the homes who get to know the young people are also able to support them as they prepare to leave care, and integrate into the community, through a unique partnership First Step with sister organisation, Further Options.
