Supported Lodgings for Young People
The Supported Lodging Scheme recruits and supports a network of local people who offer a room in their home with varying levels of support to vulnerable young people, over the age of 16.
It provides a distinct alternative to traditional hostel provision and other forms of accommodation including Local Authority residential care or Foster Care.
The Scheme enables additional community based accommodation to be available to young people. The accommodation is typically offered as a breathing space for the young person with an opportunity to develop skills in a supportive environment, before moving into an independent living scheme for young people.
The Supported Lodging for Young People Scheme aims to match suitable landlords and landladies with suitable lodgers and provide ongoing support, advice, information and training for the Lodgings Provider.
