Opened in February 2012, Options Applegate House continues to go from strength to strength.
Recently rated as Good by CQC with the caring element reported as Outstanding, the team continue to develop the service to meet the needs of the individuals living in this homely community based service.
“When you go into the service there is a real family atmosphere, and everyone is really friendly” External professional.
Options Applegate House strives to develop and provide the best opportunities for those living at the service, like Steven, who has been actively working in the Barton branch of the Red Cross charity shop as a volunteer on a weekly basis. Steven was a previous resident of Options Roxby House, our adolescent to adult life preparation transition service, and made the move to Options Applegate House in April 2013. The change has given Steven even more opportunity to develop his independence skills and he himself was delighted at the chance of having his own flat and was instrumental in the success of his the move.
Now a frequent independent bus user, Steven regularly travels back to Options Roxby House to take part in various daily activities and is often seen working in the onsite Café at Roxby House where he works alongside one of his fellow Red Cross volunteer Janet.
A highlight of 2014 for Steven was his visit to Buckingham Palace which still remains a proud moment for him – as demonstrated when he told the CQC inspector during a recent inspection all about his exciting and memorable day. “One of the staff cried when they saw me in my suit they said it was because they were so proud of me.”
