Options Roxby House Celebrates 15th Anniversary During Autism Awareness Week

A specialist residential service in North Lincolnshire is celebrating its 15th anniversary during Autism Awareness Week.

Options Roxby House, offering residential services for people aged 16 and over, is preparing for a BBQ and a variety of exciting activities to mark the special occasion.

The anniversary falls in Autism Awareness Week, launched to improve the understanding of autism. Lots of activities will be going on at Options throughout the week, including an Oscars-themed party, a picnic, trampolining, a onesie treasure hunt, a BBQ and a staff party.

This is the second celebration for Options Roxby in recent months, as it was awarded an outstanding CQC rating in November.

Options Roxby House, in Roxby, near Scunthorpe, offers an adolescent to adult life preparation service (AALPS) supporting those with autism, Asperger’s syndrome, learning difficulties and complex needs with the sometimes difficult transition into adulthood. The service also provides specialist outreach community and home support for people with autism and Asperger’s syndrome who need some additional support with daily life in their own homes and community.

The celebratory activities, which are being held for all those Options supports across its North services and for its staff, will take place from 1st-7th April.

Roxby House offers a wide range of on-site facilities, providing service users with the opportunity to develop their interests and skills. On-site facilities include a small petting farm and horticulture area, extensive gardens with an adventure playground, and a variety of vocational rooms such as art, pottery and woodwork studios.

Lesley Fisher, adult services operations manager and outreach registered manager, said: “We are all looking forward to celebrating our 15th anniversary next month, alongside Autism Awareness Week. We have lots of exciting activities planned throughout the week, and our service users are really excited.

“We have come a long way in the past 15 years, and have seen many service users move on to achieve their own goals which makes us all emotional, but extremely proud. We were delighted to be awarded an outstanding CQC rating in November, and look forward to the next 15 years.”
