Options Roxby House Celebrates Outstanding Rating by the Care Quality Commission

Options Roxby House – An ‘innovative’ specialist adults residential service in North Lincolnshire with ‘a person centred culture’ is celebrating after been rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.

An unannounced inspection was carried out at Options Roxby House in June this year, and a report has been released today rating the service as outstanding overall.

The service was the only one rated outstanding out of 63* recently inspected by the CQC in the north of England under its new approach.

Options Roxby House, in Roxby, near Scunthorpe, offers an adolescent to adult life preparation service (AALPS) supporting those with autism, Asperger’s syndrome, learning difficulties and complex needs with the sometimes difficult transition into adulthood. The service also provides specialist outreach community and home support for people with autism and Asperger’s syndrome who need some additional support with daily life in their own homes and community.

Options Roxby House is part of the Options journey of care.  The pathway is unique within the sector and offers support to individuals at any stage of their life. Whilst some of Options services are set up to focus on longer term care they continually invest in the children, young people and adults in their care to ensure positive progression throughout their lives.

On site facilities at Roxby House include a small petting farm, sports hall and various vocational rooms such as music and woodwork.

Speaking of the report, Debbie Westhead, deputy chief inspector for Adult Social Care in the North, said: “We found that Options Roxby House was providing an outstanding service to the people it supported and to their families, and the team there should be extremely proud of the work they do.

“It is particularly pleasing to see that the care was developed from a person centred culture and the service strived to empower people to lead independent lives with support in the community.

“It is very clear that Options Roxby House has adopted some innovative initiatives. Staff act with utmost professionalism and management are dedicated to providing a safe, compassionate and high quality service. It is for this and many other reasons why the service has received the highest rating we can give.”

Speaking of their recent inspection rating, head of adult autism service for Options, Russell Leese, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the whole team at Options Roxby House and the recent CQC inspection rating is the recognition they deserve for the excellent work undertaken there.

“Everyone at the service is extremely passionate about delivering high quality care to the individuals we support to ensure they can live as independent a life as possible.”
